Morocco Project
Morocco
Currently in Morocco, 6,000–7,000 babies are abandoned at birth each year, representing 2% of total births. Additionally, there are approximately 65,000 orphans across the country, highlighting the critical need for organizations like Enfance Espoir to provide care and support to these vulnerable children.
The Hospital of Hope
An orphanage that holds a special place in our hearts. Since 2017, we have visited the centre annually to help and support its vital work, contributing to the well-being of the abandoned babies and the development of the centre facilities. This annual visit is more than just a tradition; it is an opportunity to share love, compassion, and hope with vulnerable babies who face immense challenges. During our visits, we spend time engaging with the children through activities, games, bringing joy and creating lasting memories. Additionally, we provide essential supplies such as clothing, food, books, and toys to support their everyday needs.
Dar ul Tifl
For the past 8 years, we have been honoured to support the orphanage in Marrakesh, which accommodates 383 orphans. Our main focus is with the younger children at the centre, where we aim to enhance their personal growth through their onsite school and sports programme. We have helped renovate classrooms left in disrepair, provided essential supplies such as book bags, reading materials, and writing books, all aimed at creating a safe and stimulating environment for learning.
Each year we invest in a wide range of sports equipment and team kits which enables the children to enjoy themselves, achieve their potential and compete effectively. We are currently helping to fund an expansion to the orphanage which upon completion will a further 150 children.
Association for Taking Care of the Orphans
Our partnership with The Association has been running for some years now, which takes care of orphans and widows in Marrakech. They do an excellent job of supporting over a thousand families of widows and orphans by providing food vouchers, household goods, and ensuring that each sponsored orphan, including those supported by our charity, receives a quality education and is rewarded for their achievements. We have also refurbished a large centre which will now be used for extracurricular classes by the orphans and a training centre for widows to upskill and find work locally.
Each summer AlAjar organises a summer trip for young people and volunteers from the UK to visit the Orphanage and spend time on fun activities with the Orphans.
