Nearly 9,000 people live below the poverty line in Guinea-Bissau, living on just £2 per day. This project reaches some of the most needy people in the world. Al-Ajar Academy Islamic School is under construction in the heart of Guinea-Bissau. This school, designed to initially accommodate 250 children—mainly orphans and those with disabilities—is more than just a building; it is a haven of learning, nourishment, and faith. These children will not only learn but thrive, receiving:
• Three meals a day to nurture their growing bodies.
• Tables and chairs to give them the dignity and focus they deserve.
• Resources for Islamic Studies and Qur’an memorisation (Hifz).
• Uniforms, symbolising equality and unity.
We have also been providing food packages during Ramadan and Eid, and this initiative is ongoing. We are committed to continuing this support and ensuring that those in need are able to celebrate these important occasions with dignity and joy.
Not only will this school provide essential education, but it also holds the potential to guide thousands to Islam. Imagine the ripple effect of even one child’s life transformed—how many hearts will come to Allah (SWT) through them? The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: “When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah, knowledge which is beneficial, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him.” (Sahih Muslim)
